We advocate a unified description of services (both traditional bricks 'n' mortar, and web services) that is based on the ways in which services are currently advertised. Feel free to read the reports attached to this site. Description of a service involves the capabilities and the non-functional properties. With respect to non-functional properties we are particularly interested in describing payment, price, availability (both temporal and locative), obligations, rights, security, trust, quality, discounts, and penalties.
More recently we have taken this work from its conceptual form and made
it concrete in XML Schema. This XML Schema representation is available
from here. A
discussion about the many uses of this concrete form of our work is available
in Chapter 7 of the following thesis.
